There really is no logic to it...

Have you ever seen the programme "NUMB3RS"?. The programme about the maths professor who applies formulas, and calculation to what would seen random events. To try to apply a mathematical equation to a set of circumstances with the objective of predicting the next event before it has happened.
If that were possible, and that a set of equation explain events, then I'm not sure I even want to know the quadratic equation that solves the next story, as told in the New York media recently. There is a whole lot going on in the title itself..

"Brooklyn resident killed by ambulance

A New York Fire Department ambulance killed an elderly woman as she pushed a grocery cart across an intersection. The ambulance was on its way to transport a patient to Brooklyn Hospital. The ambulance had its lights and sirens in use as it raced down Bay 22nd St towards Lutheran Medical Center located on 150 55th Street in Brooklyn. It was not known if the ambulance went through a red light. The victim was believed to be in her 80’s. No charges of DWI were brought by the authorities."

Sometimes, accidents just happen without effects. Other times justice just doesnt seem to have been done...
