I read again, at the tragic death of a young life in New York.
It is with sadness to report that a 1st Grade student was the victim, after two speeding cars ran him down and trampled him. It occurred on Bleeker Street, which is near to Central and Wilson Avenues, in Manhattan. He was innocently returning from the school yard, escorted by his mother and older brother. The two boys were gleefully scootering, completely unaware of what horrific events the next few minutes would bring.
One of the speeding cars, a red Mitsubishi Eclipse, ploughed straight into him, and as if to ironically ensure the fatal outcome, a second speeding car also struck him. The poor innocent boy was no match for the Toyota Rav4. As the driver of the red Eclipse may be liable for the death, the family would be entitled to pursue a lawsuit. It wont change the history of events, but enough publicity may reduce further potential incidents, thereby ensuring that another family doesnt suffer in the way of this poor boys family and relatives
.
It is well known as an accident hot-spot, with neighbors recalling regular occurrences of vehicles speeding selfishly past the school zone, ignoring entirely the inherent danger lurking around this net for schoolchildren.
Christian Acteopan: A needless statistic.
